Catherine Pooler's Faithful Flutterings ~ Butterflies

Clean and simple with a little glitter and glaze :)

I just ordered and received Catherine Pooler's new Zen Garden Collection release with a new ink pad palette, stamps and dies. I love her designs and am a devoted fan of her luxurious inks. I can't wait to play with the whole collection! The butterflies are from the Faithful Flutterings Stamp Set. The little circles are from the Love Grows Stamp Set. I used Nuvo's Glitter Pen to accent the wings with a glittery sparkle. I added dimension to the butterfly's bodies with Nuvo's Crystal Glaze. When I stamped the sentiment, I made a mistake, so I re-stamped it on to a separate, white piece of card stock and punched it with EK Tools Photo Punch. I attached the little frame with a Stampin' Up Dimensional Dot. Have a great day!

Hero Arts Layering Birds & Branches Mother's Day Card

This card took me a little longer than usual, but the results are worth the effort :)

I started with a shimmery card layer in a sand color. First, I stamped the Happy sentiment with clear embossing ink and then heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder. I made a mistake with the first Mother's Day stamping, so tried again and punched it out, clear-embossed it and mounted it with pop-dots for a little dimension, covering my little error :) After I attached it, I noticed a little tiny black dot! So I covered THAT with a little sparkle :) Just a note here: Cherry blossoms are bigger towards the base and smaller towards the tip of the branch--another mistake of mine :) I used the entire set of the Hero Arts Layering Birds & Branches stamps and dies, using Hera Arts inks for the color layers and Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink for the branches and bird & floral accents. After die-cutting, I arranged and re-arranged on to the card layer until I found a composition that I liked. The branches were attached directly to the layer. The flowers and birds were attached with pieces of pop-dots which I had snipped into smaller pieces. I allowed the branches to jut out of the card a little and then trimmed the ends off to justify with the edge of the card layer. I finished the card with some Pico Embellisher dots and adhered it to a Kraft card base.

Paper Smooches Silhouette Flowers

Super-simple and summer-y :) We have several feet of snow here, and although I like snow, I am missing the warm days of Arizona sometimes. I think that's what is prompting my bright, summer-looking cards lately.

These three die sets total only about $12-15 and don't require a coordinating stamp set. And most of you already have a THANKS die, thus lowering that amount! As you know, most die sets cost more than the coordinating stamp set. I have always found Paper Smooches to be pretty affordable. I started by blending Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks (using Blending Tools) on to white card stock in a circular motion. The colors I used are Abandoned Coral, Wild Honey and Worn Lipstick. Then I die-cut the all the die set pieces from all three sets using black card stock. I used EK Tools Craft Tweezers and Tombow Multi Mono Glue to carefully adhere the pieces to the blended panel. With Nuvo's Glitter Pen, I added some bling to the THANKS die. Unfortunately, I could not capture that in the photo :) Now the black, Catherine Pooler Postage Stamp layer you see under my panel is not yet available. It came in her last Stamp of Approval kit that she puts out quarterly. But it will be available soon. I have added an Avery Elle set below, instead, for now. Have a great day!
